IU Praised BTS’s Suga As High-standard Producer+Recalled Being Looked Down Upon At 16

On December 26th, a video of Suga’s web show”SUCHWITA” with IU as a guest was uploaded on the official channel of BTS.

In this video, IU said of Suga, “I think he’s the best producer among ones of the same age,” adding, “He has a high standard as a producer. He has a high standard for himself,” when talking about their collaboration for the song “eight.”

She added, “I felt a difference between ‘eight’ and ‘People Pt.2’. ‘right’ was my song anyway and ‘People Pt.2’ was Suga’s song. When he worked on his own song, I felt that his standards were high and he was strict with himself.”

In response, Suga said, “That’s what happens when I work on my album. It’s especially burdensome when I work on another artist’s album,” adding, “I was scared when making the theme for ‘eight’. I think people will decide whether to listen to a song within the first three seconds. I made the theme with IU’s suggestion, and fortunately, people liked it.”

Regarding her reaching her 30s, IU shared, “When I debuted at 16, I was constantly told that I was young. “Do they look down on me?” I thought. In my late 20s, there was a long time I felt like I was young for my career. Now I feel like I am compatible as singer IU.”
