ITZY is making their comeback on July 31st at 6 PM KST with the new mini-album ‘KILL MY DOUBT’ and title track ‘CAKE’.
Ahead of their comeback after 8 months, ITZY, who shone as a leading girl group with diverse global activities last year, is planning to solidify their position once again.
This April, ITZY successfully completed their first world tour, ‘CHECKMATE,’ consisting of a total of 16 regions and 20 shows. Drawing momentum from various activities and accomplishments, ITZY is expected to capture global fans with their new mini-album, ‘KILL MY DOUBT.’
‘KILL MY DOUBT’ is an album that conveys firm belief and courage in breaking down self-doubt. ITZY has been expressing honest and confident stories about themselves since debut. The title track ‘CAKE’ is their first collaboration song with K-pop hitmaker Black Eyed Pilseung, heralding ITZY’s new summer anthem as ‘K-pop Summer Queen.’
ITZY also personally introduced their new album before its release.
It’s been about 8 months since ITZY’s last mini-album in November 2022. What are your thoughts?
“We prepared this new mini-album especially diligently. We are very confident and have practiced a lot, so we are really looking forward to this promotion. As we wanted to come back more impressively, it took a little time. We did our best to repay the anticipation, so we hope you’ll like it.”
What do you think is the reason for ITZY’s global popularity, and are there any pressures?
“We think people like the energy we show on stage with our five different colors combined. Also, the messages of self-confidence and our charismatic stages are reasons for our popularity. As for the pressure, because so many people love us and anticipate our comeback, we do feel some pressure about how we can approach them with even better music and performances. However, that pressure actually became the motivation for us to grow and work hard.”
What message does ‘KILL MY DOUBT’ convey?
“Just like everyone else, we also have doubts and insecurities within ourselves. We wanted to convey the meaning that believing and loving ourselves means confronting and overcoming all those doubts and insecurities. We want to tell many people and ourselves that we are doing well and can handle it.”
What is the unique charm of ‘KILL MY DOUBT’ that sets it apart from ITZY’s previous albums?
“‘KILL MY DOUBT’ is an album that showcases various honest emotions from within us. It contains a diverse tracklist that highlights the distinct and individual charms of each of us, making it shine even more.”
Are there any new realizations or personal growth during ITZY’s last 8 months on the tour?
“We feel that our live singing skills have improved a lot. At first, we were worried and felt pressured about performing so many songs live, but as we continued with the concerts, we became more proficient in enjoying the stage. It was our first world tour, so we were a bit anxious about whether we could finish it well, but we supported each other, and we are proud that we successfully completed it.”
What are ITZY’s plans, aspirations, and desired achievements for this comeback?
“We want to bring much more enjoyable and refreshing activities to everyone this summer. We hope to deliver powerful energy to many people through this new album. Also, if we have the opportunity, we want to create exciting memories with our fans in larger concert venues.”
