RIIZE Anton’s Alleged Secret Instagram Account Sparks Backlash Among Korean Netizens
Rookie boy group RIIZE finds themselves embroiled in yet another controversy
From Seunghan’s hiatus to rumors swirling around Anton’s private life, and even connections to the controversial Han Seo Hee, RIIZE has been getting caught up in negative rumors.
The latest uproar involves Anton and an alleged secret Instagram account that has stirred outrage within Korean netizens and the account is accused of being derogatory towards Koreans.
This account, named “ilovesamsungsomuch,” allegedly belonged to Anton before its recent deletion, with connections traced back to him through acquaintances who followed the account.
Netizens argue that the username itself is a mockery of Koreans. They point out that Koreans born overseas ridicule Korea by making fun of Samsung. Given Anton’s American upbringing, some condemn his username as tarnishing Korea’s image while profiting from being a K-pop idol.
In the midst of these controversies, attention has also turned to Anton’s father, singer and producer Yoon Sang. In his youth, Yoon Sang faced scrutiny from the Military Manpower Administration for allegedly attempting to evade military service by obtaining Argentine citizenship.
Threatened with Interpol intervention, he ultimately renounced his Argentinian citizenship and enlisted in the military in 1993. Despite fulfilling his military duty, the incident tarnished his reputation.
The seriousness of avoiding military conscription in South Korea amplifies the negative perception surrounding Yoon Sang’s past actions.
