Injunctions on a screening ban for ‘The Baby Garden’ episodes in “In the Name of God” documentary have been filed

Netflix’s original series “In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal” was released on March 3rd.  Shortly after then, it received explosive responses and had a significant social impact. In particular, the documentary aroused hot topics as it contains scenes that provoke intense accusations, testimonies from actual victims, scenes that cause controversy over selectivity, etc. In the OTT market dominated by dramas and movies, “In the Name of God” has made a remarkable result as a documentary.

“In the Name of God” sheds light on four cult organizations, including JMS led by Jung Myung Seok, Five Oceans led by Park Soon Ja, The Baby Garden led by Kim Ki Soon, and Manmin Central Church led by Lee Jae Rok.

Prior to its release, JMS filed an injunction to ban the screening, but it was rejected. Even after the release, injunctions for a ban on the documentary’s screening have continuously been filed.

When asked about the reason JMS seems to be the only organization that is gaining keen attention from the public at a press conference held at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong on the 10th, “In the Name of God” PD Cho Sung Hyun said, “I also have a regret for that part”. He then revealed that an injunction to ban the screening of ‘The Baby Garden’ episodes might be filed soon.

PD Cho Sung Hyun said, “As far as I know,  there will soon be an injunction request for the screening of ‘The Baby Garden’ episodes to be banned. In the early 2000s, when SBS attempted to broadcast a documentary on The Baby Garden on the program called ‘Unanswered Questions’, a banning injunction was also filed and accepted. This is worrying. You might not be able to watch these episodes anymore, so I hope you watch them while you still can.”
