Golden Girls Excited To Meet NewJeans, “I Knew You Guys Would Be Successful Since Your Debut With ‘Attention’”
The December 29th broadcast of KBS 2TV’s program “Golden Girls” showed Golden Girls performing overseas for the first time and meeting with the popular girl group NewJeans.
3 hours before their performance, Golden Girls participated in the photo wall event and SHINee came to greet them. Surprised when Golden Girls introduced themselves as juniors, SHINee immediately did their group greeting to show respect for Golden Girls members, who are actually their senior singers. Golden Girls also met with Stray Kids as they chanted “JYP” loudly.
After the photo wall event, Golden Girls welcomed NewJeans to their waiting room. When Insooni sang “Hype Boy”, NewJeans responded with a group greeting. Park Mi-kyung then asked, “Is ‘Attention’ your debut song? Was it a year ago? I know you guys through that song. I knew you would be very successful”.
Hearing that, NewJeans’s Minji said, “I looked for your performances to watch and you were all very charismatic. Your rap was so cool”, expressing her admiration for the seniors. Hyein also added, “When you did the rehearsal, all the groups here were amazed by your performance. I really enjoyed it”.
NewJeans’s 15-year-old maknae Hyein and Golden Girls’s youngest member Lee Eun-mi, who is 57 years old, greeted each other, making everyone burst into laughter. While talking about their age gap, Minji said her mother was born in 1978. Insooni laughed and said, “I debuted in 1978. I already started singing when your mother was born”, drawing laughter.
Golden Girls also asked NewJeans the way to attract music fans in their teens and 20s. In response, NewJeans advised that making eye contact with fans and showcasing chemistry between the members were very important. Golden Girls members also learned various trendy poses from NewJeans, such as diamond heart, puppy heart, cat heart, etc. Hyein then created a signature bling bling pose for Golden Girls and explained, “It gives the feeling of something sparkling like your team’s name”. Golden Girls members smiled brightly as they were all satisfied with it.
Lastly, Insooni said, “We’ve been singing for more than 30 years, and I’ll pray that you guys can also sing for more than 30 years”. NewJeans replied, “This proves that age is not important because we can communicate through music”.
