At first, the prosecution demanded a three-year imprisonment but the court in the first trial acquitted Yang Hyun-suk, saying “Considering various factors, there was not enough evidence to prove that Yang Hyun-suk’s remarks caused fear in the victim”

In response, the prosecution added the crime of forcing an interview to the preliminary indictment in the second trial and eventually succeded in securing a guilty verdict for Yang Hyun-suk.

On November 8th, the second trial court sentenced Yang Hyun-suk to 6 months in suspended jail and 1 year of probation on charges of forcing interviews under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
