Final Sentence For Yang Hyun-suk’s Threatening Charges To Be Announced Today (Nov 8th)

Will YG’s CEO Yang Hyun-suk receive an acquittal of threatening charges in the final appeal trial?

Later on November 8th, the Seoul High Court’s Criminal Division 6-3 will hold an appeal sentencing hearing for Yang Hyun-suk on threatening allegations.

Yang Hyun-suk was indicted on charges of trying to threaten former idol trainee Han Seo-hee to reverse statements regarding former iKON member B.I’s purchase and administration of illegal drugs. Yang Hyun-suk has consistently denied the claims but the prosecution demanded a three-year imprisonment for the CEO in the first trial.

However, the first trial court acquitted Yang Hyun-suk because “there’s not enough evidence to prove that Yang Hyun-suk’s remark caused the victim’s fear”. The prosecution filed and during the appeal court, they said, “Loved by the public as iKON’s leader, B.I took drugs and he (Yang Hyun-suk) tried to cover up the case”.

Yang Hyun-suk’s legal representative denied the accusation, saying “There were no requests for false statements and no exercise of power”, adding “Han Seo-hee made different statements every time so her words are not credible.”

Later in the 4th trial, Han Seo-hee suddenly shed tears and said, “I hope Yang Hyun-suk will not be punished”, although she previously insisted on a strict punishment for him. Earlier, Yang Hyun-suk’s lawyer still questioned Han Seo-hee’s statement and said, “If Yang Hyun-suk really threatened Han Seo-hee, he would have been included in her report back then. Yang Hyun-suk only tried to stop Han Seo-hee from taking drugs.”

On the other hand, the prosecution did not change their mind when stating the final opinion and continued to demand prison sentences of 3 years for Yang Hyun-suk and 2 years for former YG manager Kim.
