Lee Seung Gi shared his view on celebrity marriage and thoughts on the couple dynamics.
It’s been confirmed that Lee Seung Gi will be getting married to actress Lee Da In, whom he has dated since May 2021, in the coming April 7th. Since the announcement, attention was focused on Lee Seung Gi’s view on marriage.
In December 2017, Lee Seung Gi made an appearance on the SBS entertainment program “All The Butlers” where he expressed his belief on marriage between celebrities.
After returning to the entertainment scene after his military discharge, Lee Seung Gi was struggling to fall asleep until late at night as if the camera was an unfamiliar element to him. While lying in bed, actor Lee scrolled through various articles and received the news of marriage between Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, which was a big issue at the time. At the news, Seung Gi expressed his admiration, “Song-Song couple are cool. It must have been a difficult decision, but it really takes courage,” he said.
At the same time, the actor appeared to be lost in thought about marriage, career, and the future. He sighed, “(When I think about my future self) Sigh…It’s difficult.”
Two years later, on the same broadcast, actor Lee shared his thought of marriage as a seesaw, with ups and downs depending on the situation of one partner. And it took effort from both of them to balance out the fluctuation.
He also added, “It’s not just a seesaw, it’s a group seesaw. Families should ride together. When riding individually, each other can tighten their hips or adjust it with their toes, but when two or more people start riding, shouldn’t they consider each other’s weight?”
After the dating rumor was announced, he said, “I don’t think I’m at the stage of thinking that I will get married someday. I think I’m at the crossroad to chose whether I’m going to live alone or get married.”
It seems that Lee Seung Gi has made his mind now that he is about to get married to his partner Lee Da In.
In his handwritten letter to fans, Lee Seung Gi showed much of his affection for his future wife, “She is someone with a lot of warmth and love, and she is someone I want to keep by my side forever. I want to share our happiness together, and even if there are difficult times in life, I want to overcome those difficulties together without letting go of each other’s hands.”
In announcing the news, the actor hoped that “[fans] will show support for our future ahead, and we will live happily while continuing to give back to others.”
