(G)I-DLE’s Soyeon has frequently become the subject of online ridicule regarding her English.

As (G)I-DLE gears up for the release of their second full album and its title track “Super Lady” on January 29, a second teaser for the “Super Lady” MV was recently out.

This snippet of the teaser attracted negative attention on X, with some netizens making fun of Soyeon’s English pronunciation and claiming they couldn’t understand her words.

This incident is not the first time that (G)I-DLE, particularly Soyeon, has faced scrutiny over her English. Their pronunciation in songs like “Nxde,” “My Bag,” and “Queencard” has previously been targets of online mockery.

In response to the criticism directed at Soyeon, fans jumped to her defense. They condemned the netizens, attributing the negativity to xenophobia.

Fans argued that Soyeon is speaking English with her Korean accent, emphasizing that there is nothing inherently wrong with that approach.
