Emma Watson explains why she has not acted for 5 years, “I wasn’t very happy”

Hollywood actress Emma Watson opened up about the reason she took a break from acting activities.

In a recent interview with Financial Times, Emma Watson expressed her thoughts about being an actress, saying “I wasn’t very happy, if I’m being honest. I thought it would be better if I take a step back from acting and recharge myself”.

Emma Watson hasn’t had any new project since the 2020 movie “Little Women”. She shared, “I think I felt a bit caged. The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over”, adding “It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn’t get to be involved in the process”.

Revealing that she felt responsible for things she couldn’t control as the main character of a work, Emma Watson said, “I began to find really frustrating”. She added, “I only wanted to stand in front of things where if someone was going to give me flak about it, I could say, in a way that didn’t make me hate myself, ‘Yes, I screwed up, it was my decision, I should have done better.’”

After finishing the filming for “Little Women” in 2018, Emma Watson has not acted for about 5 years. When asked if she would act again, the actress said, “Yes, absolutely. I love what I do. It’s finding a way to do it where I don’t have to fracture myself into different faces and people. And I just don’t want to switch into robot mode any more”.

Meanwhile, Emma Watson became famous around the world in 2001 after starring in “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” at the age of 11. She appeared in the whole “Harry Potter” series until 2011, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” (2012), “The Bling Ring” (2013), and “Beauty and the Beast” (2017).
