Comedian Left Entertainment Industry After Being Forced To Eat Human Poop On Camera

Former comedian Kim Joo-ho’s story raised the public’s anger

Recently, a post titled “A comedian who retired because of a program producer’s abuse” was made on various online communities in Korea.

The post contained a video of former comedian Kim Joo-ho posted on the YouTube channel “The Story of a Self-Employed in His 30s” two years ago.

In the video, Kim Joo-ho said, “I’m the comedian who got a slap in the face in the show ‘Comedy Big League’, and I’ve been unknown for about 10 years. It was easy for me to quit after 10 years as a comedian and to open a restaurant.”

When asked about the most difficult thing as a comedian, Kim said, “It’s honestly very hard to please people. If you want to appear in an event, you have to go to someone who has money. Those things made me feel really shabby.”

In addition, he said he wanted to make money so he retired as a comedian, but explained, “The most decisive moment was when I was filming ‘Let’s Go Time Exploration Team’ program, the director emphasized a lot on making everything real. I had to take off my glasses in the dark, fell off a cliff and broke my neck.”

In fact, Kim Joo-ho had fallen from a 3 meter high hill during the filming of “Let’s Go Time Exploration Team 3” in 2016. Immediately after the accident, Kim Joo-ho was taken to the emergency room of Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital in Seoul and was diagnosed with a neck fracture, which required 6 weeks of rest.

“Afterwards, I was wondering what I should do to make a living and was offered to run a restaurant by an older friend I know,” he said. “I learned everything from washing dishes to serving customers for a year at his restaurant. He opened one for me and I am now paying him back with the restaurant’s profits. My monthly income is about 40 million won to 50 million won.”

Notably, Kim said working at a restaurant is easier than working as a comedian, adding, “I had done a lot of hard work. On the show “Let’s Go Time Exploration Team,” the director suddenly told me to eat human poop. The script was that I had to eat the king’s poop for my health. That part was even cut from the show. I wouldn’t complain if it’s broadcast.”

Finally, Kim Joo-ho added, “I don’t know how the director is doing right now, but honestly, I hope we don’t meet again.”

Internet users who have heard the story have been enraged, leaving comments such as “That PD (director) should be forced to do the same thing,” “Can’t he sue now?” and “Share his information.”
