Calculations of 2021 MAMA’s results based on actual performances: BTS ranks 1st in all 3 Daesang categories
40% judges evaluations can make a significant difference in the final results of 2021 MAMA.
After the Mnet Asian Music Awards 2021 confirmed major adjustments in the criteria and voting rules, Kpop fans and netizens are now more eager than ever to find out the winners of this year’s MAMA. Accordingly, starting from this year, fans’ votes will no longer be one of the criteria to determine the winners in most categories (except Worldwide Icon of the Year and Worldwide Fans’ Choice Top 10). Instead, judges’ evaluations will make up a huge part of the overall score for the artist, song and Daesang categories.
To predict the results of 2021 MAMA, the Twitter account @KawardsStats has garnered much attention from Kpop fans by calculating the total score of the nominees in different award categories. Most of the rankings below will certainly not accurately reflect the final result because 40% of the judges’ evaluations can completely change the situation. However, these data also partly show which singers and groups are currently occupying a great advantage in the important categories of this year’s MAMA.

From the above list, it can be seen that in most categories, the conversion point gap between the leading artist and other nominees is not large enough to be 100% sure that they will win even without the judges’ evaluations. In the three most important Daesang categories, BTS is currently leading. However, in the scenario when an artist following BTS got 40,00 points from the judges while BTS did not receive any points, BTS is still likely to not win. Obviously, the same situation can happen in the remaining categories.
