BLACKPINK’s North American Encore Concerts Are Not Selling Out? Fans Jump to Their Defense

There has been a debate sparked over BLACKPINK's ongoing North American concert ticket sales.

After completing two weeks of historic performances at Coachella 2023, BLACKPINK immediately returned to their BORN PINK world tour schedule. They recently performed two nights in Mexico and continued to make headlines.

YG has also begun selling tickets for BORN PINK encore shows in August at major stadiums in North America. However, two days after the sale started, netizens have been debating about BLACKPINK’s possibility of touring with unsold tickets.

Specifically, a netizen pointed out that BLACKPINK’s encore concert ticket sales in North America are alarming, as YG has been selling tickets to the public for several days, but there are still many empty seats at the two Metlife Stadium shows and the Allegiant Stadium show.

Immediately, BLINKs countered the post with several reasons proving that BLACKPINK’s ticket sales speed was not a cause for concern.

Specifically, YG sold approximately 230,000 tickets, and after two days, around 80% were sold out, leaving only about 25,000 tickets. There are still more than three months left until the North American BORN PINK Tour Encore schedule, and the ticket sales rate is quite fast, which is not easy for any Kpop group to achieve.

In addition, the high ticket prices and large stadium size also affect the speed of sales. Despite the controversy, BLACKPINK is still the highest-grossing girl group currently, although they have not completed their tour.

Fans left comments:

  • There are still nearly four months to go before the encore concerts. A few shows have sold 80%. What’s alarming about that? There are still about ten shows left to come, so should we ask fans not to buy other shows and wait for Metlife and Allegiant?
  • A total of about 230,000 tickets were sold, and after only two days, about 25,000 tickets were left. Is that called alarming?
  • BLACKPINK performed in the US last year, and now they are back for encore concerts with expensive tickets and an additional night at Metlife, so it’s normal if they don’t sell out. When it comes to current tour capacity, BLACKPINK can compete with Western stars, not just Kpop.
  • The tickets have only been on sale for a few days, and there are 25k unsold tickets. Besides, this is an encore tour, and the tickets are expensive.
