BLACKPINK Jisoo even trendier than Jennie? Praise using Gen Z slang

A recent comment made by BLACKPINK Jisoo even confuses her “trendsetter” member, Jennie.

BLACKPINK Jennie recently shared various images of herself at the world’s largest charity fashion event Met Gala, stunning the crowd. At the time, Jennie was donning a vintage dress from Chanel’s 1990 collection, as well as black accessories, giving off an elegant aura.

Upon seeing such images of Jennie, BLACKPINK Jisoo commented, “농협은행” (Nonghyup Eunhaeng) under her post. This is a slang that’s currently trending among Gen Z people in Korea, and reportedly means, “You are so pretty”.

However, it seems that Jennie is “behind” this trending slang. In particular, when appearing at the airport, a fan asked Jennie if she understood Jisoo’s comment, and received a negative response.

On the other hand, “Nonghyup Eunhaeng” is the name of a Korean bank. Once, a foreign guest came to a convenience store and repeatedly told the employee there “nomu yeppeuneyo” (You are so pretty”. However, it turns out that the foreigner was asking for directions to Nonghyup Eunhaeng, but mispronounced.

This story has quickly gone viral on Korean platforms, causing young people to use “Nonghyup Eunhaeng” to call each other pretty.

It seems that BLACKPINK Jisoo is super aware of this ongoing trend.
