BLACKPINK and EXO-SC both achiveved Gaon’s Double Platinum certification, but BLACKPINK’s album sales was a shock

Among Gaon-certified artists this time, achievements of BLACKPINK and EXO-SC were the greatest.

On September 10, Gaon Chart (Korea) released album figures for the previous month as well as certifications for sales, streams and downloads for a wide range of artists. There are 7 singers and groups honored with platinum certification in the three categories mentioned above.

In the album category, platinum certification is awarded to artists who sell over 250 thousand hard disks. However, Exo-SC was the only artist to receive double platinum certification as sales of 1 Billion Views album exceeded 500,000 copies.

Gaon’s Platinum certification (Album):

– How You Like That – BLACKPINK

– 1 Billion Views – EXO-SC

Equally remarkable is BLACKPINK ‘s achievement with How You Like That. It was released as a single by YG’s girl group, including How You Like That and a sound track, but it has sold 302,752 copies.

BTOB and Im Chang Jung have songs to go platinum in the Download category, meaning these songs have been downloaded over 2.5 million times. Notably, both songs were released in 2018 but it was not until September 10, 2020 that they recieved Gaon’s Platinum certification.

Only song which goes platinum in the streaming section, reaching over 100 million streams is Jeon Sang Keun’s I Still Love You A Lot.

Gaon is a prestigious Korean music chart, specializing in providing certification for music products based on sales or streams, downloaded from January 2018. According to Gaon, the artist received platinum certification when the album sold 250,000 copies, and Million if sales reached 1 million copies.
