At the meeting, Kim Min Kyung revealed she was Miss Korea in 2001 and said, “My mother ran a beauty salon in Daegu. She was the head of a beauty salon famous for producing Miss Korea.”

She continued, “Since I was young, I’ve seen my older sisters wear swimsuits and practice walking. So I had no fantasy about being Miss Korea. Then one day, I went to school and my parents gave me a swimsuit and high heels. I already had a feeling. I changed into the swimsuit and came out, and my parents said, ‘You’ll be in the top seven, right?’”

Kim Min Kyung, who was attending Dongguk University’s Department of Theater and Film at the time, said, “I only dreamed of acting, but from my mother’s point of view, it’s something I’ve been doing all my life, so it’s okay to do something different from once. That’s why I thought I’d compete (in Miss Korea) and make it to the top seven.”

As a result, she was crowned the winner of Miss Korea 2001. Kim Min Kyung recalled, “The result was unexpected. My mom was happy. The next day, the front page of the newspaper was me.”

In particular, Kim Min Kyung confessed, “I looked for my fan cafe because I thought I might have one. There were 6,000 members of the fan cafe overnight. But when I looked down, there were 20,000 other people. I wondered what it was, but there were 20,000 anti-fans.”

In the meantime, Kim Min Kyung explained why she had anti-fans, saying, “They said I’m short because of my mother. There was even a rumor of me undergoing a 800 million full-body plastic surgery.”
