A major Korean music awards, the MAMA Awards, will be held for two nights at the Tokyo Dome this year.
According to music industry officials on May 17th, the 2023 MAMA Awards will be held on November 28th and 29th at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
The MAMA Awards, which were held for two days last year at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, have been decided to be held again in Japan this year. This is the first time that a Korean awards ceremony has made its way to the Tokyo Dome.
The MAMA Awards began in 1999 as the Video Music Awards, then rebranded as MAMA in 2009, and again as the MAMA Awards last year. It has been held in various locations including Seoul, Macau, Singapore, and Vietnam, and for five years from 2012, it was held in Hong Kong. In 2019, due to protests in Hong Kong, it was held in Nagoya, Japan. In 2020 and 2021, due to the difficulty of traveling overseas because of COVID-19, it will be held in Korea. Now, it has chosen Japan for two consecutive years.
The MAMA Awards are a music awards ceremony hosted by CJ ENM, which is highly anticipated by Kpop fans for featuring outstanding performances and collaborations.
