Youn Yuh-jung & Park Seo-joon Fulfills Hollywood Dream, “The Status Of Korean Actors Is Rising”
More and more Korean stars are entering Hollywood, known as a dream for Korean actors
Park Seo-joon has successfully made his Hollywood debut through “The Marvels”.On November 5th, he appeared in a video released on Marvel’s official YouTube channel and expressed his feelings about entering Hollywood. He said, “I find it amazing that I’m able to appear in this movie”, adding “I’m fascinated by everything”.
In “The Marvels”, Park Seo-joon plays Prince Yan of the planet Aladna where people communicate by singing and also the husband of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). Despite his short screen time, the actor left a strong impression on viewers.
Veteran actress Youn Yuh-jung also entered Hollywood for the first time in her 57-year acting career at the age of 70. She starred in Netflix’s drama “Sense 8” (2015) and then played the main character in the American drama “Highland” in 2018. Later, she became the first Korean actress to win an Oscar through the 2021 film “Minari”.
Regarding her feelings about winning the Oscar, the actress humbly said, “I guess I used all my luck to get to this spot tonight. Maybe it’s thanks to the American hospitality for Korean actors”. Foreign media outlets, such as CNN and Washinton Post also complimented Youn Yuh-jung, saying “She steals the show”, “She gave the best acceptance speech”, etc. Earlier this year, the actress signed with CAA, one of the top three US agencies, to prepare for overseas activities.
Dubbed “All Time Legend”, Jeon Ji-hyun also made her Hollywood debut through the vampire action film “Blood: The Last Vampire” in 2009. Appearing in the movie as 16-year-old human-vampire girl Saya who punishes vampires, Jeon Ji-hyun performed high-level acting scenes, such as the ones using wires and combats, without a stuntman.
Through “The Thieves” (2012) and “Assassination” (2015), Jeon Ji-hyun became the first actress to have double movies with one million viewers and an action star. In addition, she began to gain many overseas fans after appearing in the hit drama “My Love from the Star” (2013) and is also performing well in the advertising industry.
