The 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF 2025) entered its third day on September 19 with a star-studded lineup of screenings, press events, and open talks that kept fans and media buzzing across Busan.
Day 3 began with back-to-back Gala Presentation press conferences. Director Byun Sung-hyun joined actors Sol Kyung-gu and Hong Kyung to present Netflix’s Good News, following its well-received debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. Later in the morning, world-renowned filmmaker Guillermo del Toro unveiled details about his latest work, Frankenstein, one of the most anticipated titles of the year.
The BIFF outdoor stage came alive with open talks featuring major names:
- The People Upstairs brought director Ha Jung-woo and co-stars Gong Hyo-jin and Kim Dong-wook.
- Netflix’s The Great Flood was introduced by director Kim Byung-woo and actress Kim Da-mi.
- Netflix series As You Stood By was represented by director Lee Jung-lim alongside actors Jeon So-nee, Lee Yoo-mi, Jang Seung-jo, and Lee Moo-saeng.
- TVING series Dear X presented its team, including producer Kim Ryun-hee and stars Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae, Kim Do-hoon, and Kim Yi-kyung.
- The Old Woman With The Knife had director Min Kyu-dong with Lee Hye-young, Kim Sung-cheol, and Yeo Woo-jin.
- Hollywood action project Protector featured director Adrian Grunberg and actress Milla Jovovich.
Oscar-winning actress Youn Yuh-jung continued to draw media attention with her role in The Wedding Banquet, a comedy about a gay couple’s staged marriage and the sharp-witted grandmother who gets involved. Director Andrew Ahn and actor Han Ki-chan joined her in a series of outdoor and press events, with coverage expected to be intense.

After a whirlwind start to BIFF as host of the opening ceremony and lead in the festival opener No Other Choice, Lee Byung-hun took center stage for this year’s Actor’s House. Following his recent Best Actor win at the Buil Film Awards, Lee Byung-hun reflected on his three-decade career in an intimate talk session.
Beyond the main venue at Busan Cinema Center, film fans in Nampo-dong enjoyed special events:
- Kim Nam gil participated in a GV (guest visit) for The Shameless.
- Director Jang Jae-hyun and actor Park Jung-min reunited for a Master Talk on Svaha: The Sixth Finger, revisiting the acclaimed film.
The day wrapped up with an outdoor screening of City Hunter: Angel Dust, starring Jackie Chan, Tony Leung, and Seventeen’s Jun, offering fans a cinematic experience under the Busan night sky.
This year’s BIFF runs from September 17 to 26, presenting 241 official titles from 64 countries, plus 87 Community BIFF selections and 32 Neighborhood BIFF screenings. With new competitive sections and diverse special programs, the festival continues to assert its role as Asia’s premier film event.
