Oscar-winning Korean Actress Complains About Young Actors, “They May Make A Fuss”

Youn Yuh-jung recently had an interview with Wikitree to commemorate the release of her new movie “Dog Days”.

“Dog Days” depicts the story of a lonely successful architect, an MZ rider, single men and women, and a novice mother meeting special friends. In this film, Youn Yuh-jung plays the role of Minseo, a world-renowned architect.

During the interview, Youn Yuh-jung ad-libs, which are random and impromptu lines made by actors on the set. She said, “I don’t like it. I really hate it when someone changes the lines even though we already promised to act according to the script beforehand. I guess I’m an old-fashioned actor, but I really don’t like it”.

Regarding the difficulties she had while filming “Dog Days”, Youn Yuh-jung shared, “In the scene where Wanda stepped on my face, I stayed still as if I had already fainted. There was no problem but the director said he was taken aback”, adding “There were not many funny moments. Ah, it was fun when we had a shoot near my house”, drawing laughter.

She continued, “On the set, a prop fell on the back of my hand and it hurt a lot. I put ice on it under the weather of minus 15 degrees Celsius, and I felt like dying. It left a black bruise and I showed it to the director”, adding “Young actors may make a fuss over such issues. I tend to endure it”.

Regarding the reason, Youn Yuh-jung emphasized, “I don’t like to disturb others on the spot with my personal matters. Young actors have many staff with them these days but I’m an old-fashioned person so I find it weird. The set is a workplace, so you have to endure it. It may cause discomfort to others if they have to stop the filming to focus on you”.

“Dog Days”, starring Youn Yuh-jung, Yoo Hae-jin, Kim Yoon-jin, and Daniel Henney, will premiere on February 7th.
