Controversy

Back in 2018, Jimin was spotted wearing a T-shirt that depicts the bombing of Japan during World War II. As a result, BTS was removed from a scheduled appearance on a Japanese TV program and received heavy criticisms from Japanese people. However, the designer of said T-shirt explained that the A-bomb image was not to mock Japan, but to show the truth and mention how Korea’s liberation come after Japan’s surrender in the World War

In 2023, Jimin drew mixed reactions for his live encore stage on the Korean music show “M Countdown”. In particular, the BTS member sang with a wavering pitch and rather unstable voice, leading to criticisms from some audiences.

Netizens at the time even used all sorts of harsh words at Jimin, calling him “tone-deaf” and expressing that the male idol’s voice has gotten worse compared to his early days.

However, as future encores of Jimin show vast improvements, the criticisms eventually died down.
