While HOOK Entertainment is still dealing with controversies related to CEO Kwon and actor Lee Seung Gi, actress Youn Yuh Jung decided to leave the company.
On December 5th, HOOK Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as “HOOK”) said, “We would like to inform you that our contract with Youn Yuh Jung, who had been with us since March 2017, has ended”.
It was recently rumored that Youn Yuh Jung decided to part ways with HOOK after much consideration. In response, HOOK strongly denied, “It’s not true at all”. However, the agency reversed their position by officially announcing Youn Yuh Jung’s departure after about 15 days.
Regarding Youn Yuh Jung, who has been with the agency for about 5 years and 9 months, HOOK said, “We continue to cheer for her and hope that she will stay healthy with good works in the future”.
Previously, Lee Seung Gi revealed that he has not received any money from the music he released under HOOK for 18 years, and sent proof of contents to the agency with settlement details. Initially, HOOK showed a clear position against the singer-actor and refuted his claim. However, a recording of the CEO verbally abusing Lee Seung Gi and circumstantial evidence that the CEO lived a luxurious life using a corporate card has surfaced, raising suspicions against the company’s claims.
On November 30th, Kwon Jin Young, the CEO of HOOK announced that she will take full responsibility over the dispute with Lee Seung Gi, to the point of disposing of her personal property, and will not avoid any responsibility she has to take.
Below is the official position of HOOK Entertainment regarding the end of their exclusive contract with Youn Yuh Jung.
