Yook Sung-jae to receive the baton from Lee Jong-seok, today’s first broadcast of “Golden Spoon” following “Big Mouse”

BTOB member and actor Yook Sung-jae (27) is receiving the baton from actor Lee Jong-seok (33) today.

MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Golden Spoon” starring Yook Sung-jae (written by Yoon Eun-kyung, Kim Eun-hee, directed by Song Hyun-wook, Lee Han-joon) will premiere on Sep 23rd. “Golden Spoon” is a work about the adventure story of a child, who was born in a poor family, changing his fate with a friend born in a rich family through a golden spoon that he accidentally obtained. The plot is based on a Naver Webtoon with the same name.

Yook Sung-jae plays Lee Seung-cheon, who will experience a turbulent life with just a golden spoon. According to the production team, Lee Seung-cheon’s character setting is “a representative dirt spoon born in a poor family with no money and no rich parents, and he struggles to survive after seeing the bitter social class difference as he goes to Seoul Jeil High School, which is a private high school for the top 0.01% student.”

Earlier, Yook Sung-jae talked about his character Lee Seung-cheon, saying, “He is ignored because he has no money but says what he has to say whenever he sees an unfair situation,” adding, “I think he is a person who has a lot of family love and a heart to protect and take responsibility for his parents at a very young age.”

In particular, Yook Sung-jae said, “The original webtoon of ‘Golden Spoon’ was also a work that I really liked, and Seung-cheon’s dynamic life is fun and attractive to me,” adding, “He is an attractive character who takes cool revenge on people who have hurt him with his extraordinary head.”

One of the reasons why viewers are paying keen attention to “Golden Spoon” is that it is the following drama right after “Big Mouse” (written by Kim Ha-ram, directed by Oh Chung-hwan and Bae Hyun-jin) starring Lee Jong-seok. “Big Mouse” recorded the highest viewer rating of 13.7% (Nielsen Korea) thanks to the passionate performance of Lee Jong-seok and Yoon-ah (real name Lim Yoon-ah, 32). However, there were many reviews that the last episode of “Big Mouse” fell short of viewers’ expectations. Attention is focusing on how “Golden Spoon” will captivate viewers through its first episode.

The female leads of “Golden Spoon” will be played by Jung Chae-yeon (24), a member of girl group DIA, and actress Yeon-woo (real name Lee Da-bin, 26), a former member of girl group MOMOLAND, alongside the male lead Yook Sung-jae.
