Yoo Ah In’s agency, “Tested positive for marijuana? We’ve never heard of that”

UAA, the agency of Yoo Ah In, spoke up regarding media reports that the actor tested positive for marijuana.

According to Hankook Ilbo on February 10th, Yoo Ah In, who is suspected of habitual use of the psychotropic drug propofol, tested negative for the drug, but positive for marijuana.

In addition, Hankook Ilbo claimed that after the police executed a search warrant for Yoo Ah In at Incheon International Airport on February 5th, they confirmed THC-positive results in a simple urine test and requested further precise analysis from the National Forensic Service.

Hankook Ilbo also wrote, “Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main component of cannabis, is usually not detected in urine after 7 to 10 days,” and estimated that Yoo Ah In recently used it. They also said, “In the case of propofol, it disappears from the body after 3 or 4 days, making it difficult to check with a urine test.”

In response to Hankook Ilbo’s statements, Yoo Ah In’s agency UAA gave an official position, saying, “We have never heard anything about (Yoo Ah In) testing positive for marijuana.” They also added, “Other than this, our stance is the same as our previous statement. We will actively cooperate with the police investigation, and at the same time, we will actively work on what can be explained.”

On the other hand, back on February 6th, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency investigated Yoo Ah In on charges of illegal propofol use. However, the suspicion of Yoo Ah In’s marijuana use is a separate case.

Yoo Ah In’s “drug crisis” may induce heavy consequences on his projects, including movies “The Match” and “Hi.5”. Officials of the works conveyed their position to media outlet Donga.com, saying, “We are evaluating the current situation.”
