YG’s model-actor Joo Woo-jae said, “ YG doesn’t do viral marketing on me. They are not pushing me like everyone is saying”
Joo Woo-jae explained the misunderstandings about viral marketing that has surrounded him lately.
Joo Woo-jae uploaded a video titled, “About couple’s date/ buzzword/ radio’s memories/ YG office building stories/ phone call with Go Young-bae/ late-night World Cup”, on his Youtube channel “Today’s Joo Woo-jae” on February 13th.
In the video, Joo Woo-jae began by talking about couple’s dates. He said, “I have a negative opinion on this issue. When I see couples asking friends to hang out with them or go on a couple trip altogether, I wonder, ‘Why do we have to do that?’”. Joo Woo-jae continued, “I can accidentally greet my lover’s friends like when I meet my friends. But the problem is not only my lover asking me to join her friend’s gathering, but also a friend who tries to join a couple’s date”. He added, “I have never thought about introducing my lover to acquaintances around me when I’m in a relationship. It doesn’t mean I’m ashamed of my lover, but I think I shouldn’t show off about her”.
Joo Woo-jae, who is active in SNS and broadcasting activities, confessed, “I’m sure many celebrities also worry about things like this. I used to feel pressured about keeping my image in the past. However, it’s more comfortable these days to show myself through broadcasts like this”
He continued, “In the past, when I appeared on a program or got mentioned in articles, I posted about them on SNS. But since my company is YG, many people commented, saying, ‘Is this company doing viral marketing?’, ‘The company is trying to push you, isn’t it?’, etc.”.
Joo Woo-jae explained, “Although the company is really good to me, my activities do not have any influence on their sales. I’m not getting pushed by the company as you think. Somehow, these issues just arose and spread on SNS”.
Moreover, Joo Woo-jae also said, “Even if I work really hard and make contributions to my company’s sales, there are still many great people in the company whose daily sales is comparable to mine in a month”.
Joo Woo-jae said that he doesn’t feel surreal whenever he sees the YG building, adding, “When I go to the building because I have something to do, or whenever I pass by it, I would think, ‘Wow, how did they do that?’. The office building is so big and nice. There are many times when I can’t even believe that I’m going there for work.”
