“Wonderful World” Writer: The Actor Who Impressed Me The Most Was Cha Eun-woo

MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama “Wonderful World” is a human mystery drama in which Eun Soo-hyun (played by Kim Nam-joo) personally takes down the murderer who killed her son, only to create a “revenge cycle” where the murderer’s son attempted the same. 

The drama received immense praise and gradually rose in popularity, and writer Kim Ji-won recently expressed her gratitude in a written interview, saying, “I can’t believe that we achieved over 11% viewership, despite it (Wonderful World) not being an easy-to-watch drama. I think it’s all thanks to the courage and affection of those who dared to peek into the drama despite the initial ‘hard-to-watch’ walls.”

She also expressed her gratitude towards the actors who starred in the drama. First, regarding Kim Nam-joo, who played the role of Eun Soo-hyun, she said, “Thanks to the actress Kim Nam-joo, the character of Eun Soo-hyun could become much more dimensional. As the top actress in Korea, Kim Nam-joo meticulously and carefully expressed every gesture and step, considering the overall structure and psychology of the work. Thanks to her, the wonderful and unique maternal love in ‘Wonderful World’ was well expressed.”

Regarding Cha Eun-woo, Kim Ji-eun said, “The actor who impressed me the most in this work was Cha Eun-woo. He constantly researched the character of Kwon Seon-yul to the point where I thought, ‘This much?’ He sincerely loved and nurtured Seon-yul. I was amazed at how much he agonized over this character, and I watched him with admiration.”

“Despite his appearance that seemed unable to portray a rough character like Kwon Seon-yul, he depicted him very delicately, sometimes mysteriously, sometimes tragically. The character of Kwon Seon-yul became deeper and more beautiful after meeting the actor Cha Eun-woo. I think this itself is thanks to Cha Eun-woo’s infinite potential and effort”, she also added.
