Director Yoo In Sik addressed speculation surrounding Cha Eunwoo during the production presentation for the upcoming The WONDERfools.

On May 12, the cast and production team gathered at the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul for the series’ official press conference.

During the event, Yoo In Sik commented on reports that surfaced while the show was in post-production.

“We encountered the reports while editing and post-production were nearly completed,” the director explained. “This project was a long-time dream for me, and everyone involved worked incredibly hard for every single shot.”

He emphasized that the production team prioritized the drama’s quality above all else. “We approached post-production with the overall completion and quality of the drama as the top priority,” he stated, adding that he could not comment in detail regarding personal matters related to the actor.

The director also praised Cha Eunwoo’s acting performance in the series.

“His emotional acting and layered performance were even better than expected,” Yoo In Sik shared. “Not only Cha Eunwoo, but all of the actors showed a new type of performance. He worked passionately just like everyone else, and I’m satisfied with the results.”

Co-star Park Eun Bin also expressed confidence in the project, revealing that the director had consistently stressed the importance of team chemistry from the very beginning.

“He always said the team combination was important, and everyone poured their energy into that,” Park Eun Bin said. “Viewers will finally be able to see the result on the 15th.”

Set in 1999 at the turn of the millennium, The WONDERfools follows ordinary neighborhood outsiders who unexpectedly gain superpowers and struggle to protect the world from villains threatening peace.

The Netflix series is scheduled to premiere on May 15 at 5 p.m. KST.
