This former trainee from Mnet’s “Produce 48” will transform into a prisoner in her debut film to be released in June

Movie fans are looking forward to the performance of young actress Hong Ye-ji, who used to compete in “Produce 48”, in the upcoming movie “2037”

After appearing in “Produce 48”, Hong Ye-ji is making a great leap forward as an actress by making her movie debut with her first lead role in the movie “2037”, which is scheduled to be released in early June, as well as announcing her appearance in the drama “The Blue House Family”.

“2037” is a human drama that tells about adults who want to give hope to the unexpected reality that happened to a 19-year-old girl. Hong Ye-ji plays Yoon Young, who gets imprisoned for committing murder due to an unexpected incident. Each episode of this movie depicts stories of female inmates imprisoned for their own stories and delivers messages of hope and healing. Hong Ye-ji was cast after showing her stable acting in the audition.

Hong Ye-ji is a former contestant in Mnet’s audition program “Produce 48”, which formed the girl group IZ*ONE in 2018. With her fresh charms, she raised netizens’ expectations for her future.

Despite having no acting experience, Hong Ye-ji was selected to play the main character through the audition for “2037” and surprised the production team with her amazingly good acting skills.

Hong Ye-ji, who will turn to acting starting with “2037”, is proving her potential and making steady moves as a new actress. She will work with actor Jo Byung-gyu in “School Caste”, a short film directed by Kwak Kyung-taek of TVing’s original series “All Viewers+: Short Buster”. Moreover, she is going to join Cha In-pyo and Ye Ji-won in the political sitcom “The Blue House Family”, which is expected to be released on OTT platforms.

Taking her first step on the big screen with “2037”, Hong Ye-ji is receiving motivation and support from veteran actresses who will play her fellow prisoners in Room 12. Kim Mi-hwa, participated in “Start-Up”, “Dark Figure of Crime” and drama “The Killer’s Shopping List”, together with Hwang Seok-jung, Shin Eun-jung, Jeon So-min, and Yoon Mi-kyung, who are active in various projects and entertainment programs, will appear in “2037” and add more fun to the play.

“2037”, which is said to connect “Hamoni” and “Miracle in Cell No.7”, is expected to deliver hopes to all generations. It will premiere in early June.

Here is the plot synopsis of “2037”:

19-year-old Yoon-young lives alone with her mother and prepares for the qualification exam while working as a part-timer. She wants to go to school like other friends but also wants to pass the civil service exam as soon as possible to earn money and bring a more comfortable life to her deaf mother who is working in the factory. Regardless of her kindness and sincere will, an unexpected accident transforms Yoon Young from a victim to a murderer and she is imprisoned. In the prison, instead of her name Yoon-young, she is called “Lee.Gong.Sam.Chil (2037)”
