Yoo Ah In, who is suspected of illegal drug use, tested positive for cocaine and ketamine components, yet still maintains his silence.
Looking back at Yoo Ah In’s straightforward remarks on various social issues, his current silence is unfamiliar.
Early last month, Yoo Ah In’s agency, UAA, said, “We are actively cooperating with all investigations and will actively explain the problematic parts. We apologize for causing concern.” However, Yoo Ah In has not personally given any explanation to the suspicions surrounding him. He has continued to remain silent.
In particular, Yoo Ah In is still keeping his mouth shut even though the release of his upcoming movie became unclear, he was kicked out of advertisements, and even fans demanded his own explanation.
In the first half of this year, Yoo Ah In was originally scheduled to appear in Netflix’s movies “The Match”, “High Five”, and Netflix’s series “Goodbye Earth”. In addition, season 2 of Netflix’s series “Hellbound”, which was released in November 2021 and attracted a lot of attention, was supposed to start filming in June, but it became an all-stop.
Works starring Yoo Ah In that have already been filmed may be released, but news of his positive test results of additional drugs has also been reported, causing damage to Netflix and the film industry as well as the actors who acted with him.
The advertising industry, which is sensitive to trends and the public’s gaze, cut ties with Yoo Ah In early on. On the other hand, pharmaceutical companies and online fashion brands that have featured Yoo Ah In as their model have taken down advertisements of Yoo Ah In or changed the videos to private, erasing him.
In particular, if all drug charges are proven, the penalty that Yoo Ah In will have to pay is expected to be huge.
Earlier on March 1st, TV Chosun reported that “two additional types of drugs, cocaine and ketamine, were detected in the hair of Yoo Ah In, who is suspected of using propofol and hemp.”
According to the report, “When it was informed that Yoo Ah In tested positive for propofol and hemp, the National Forensic Service had already notified the police that two types of drugs, cocaine and ketamine, had also been detected.”
The number of drugs detected in Yoo Ah In so far has increased to a total of four types: hemp, propofol, cocaine, and ketamine.
On February 5th, the police collected urine and hair from Yoo Ah In, who just returned from the United States, and requested an analysis from the National Institute of Scientific Investigation (NFS). On February 8th and 9th, medical records were secured by confiscating several hospitals and clinics, including plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam and Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
The National Forensic Service notified the police of the analysis result that Yoo Ah In’s urine tested positive for cannabis and his hair tested positive for propofol. In addition, according to the information received from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Unit, Yoo Ah In administered propofol more than 100 times in total from 2021 to last year. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Unit previously revealed that Yoo Ah In took propofol 73 times in 2021, and the total amount of propofol was over 4,400ml.
