Girls’ Generation revealed the reason they cried when they held the 10th-anniversary fanmeeting.
On JTBC’s program “Soshi Tamtam”, which aired on August 16th, Girls’ Generation spent time looking back on the personal activities they carried out for five years after their 10th-anniversary promotion.
Coming to a cafe with Sunny, Tiffany said, “We’ve done a lot of personal activities in the past five years but we haven’t had time to talk about them”. Sunny also shared, “To be honest, I feel okay since I’ve been doing variety shows like this a lot but Korean fans could hardly see you. What have you been doing?”
In response, Tiffany said, “We worked almost 300 days among 365 days a year. We released an album and held a tour for the 10th anniversary with the determination to do everything we wanted to do to celebrate our 10th year. So I think it (the past 5 years) was the time for me to have a balance.”
She confessed, “It was the time I spent on myself to challenge and try something new continuously even if no one could see it. When we gathered up again, I wished I could grow up more as an ordinary person. Actually, I think I’ve become healthier physically and mentally.”
Recalling the past, Sunny then said, “At that time, we did everything we could. We even wore hot pants and sleeveless shirts in the winter. We performed in the snow and rain”.
Tiffany shared, “That was the motto of our group Girls’ Generation. There were times when I wandered and had a lot of worries, but seeing eight of us gather again (after five years), I realized that there must be a reason for our hiatus. Since we had spent time for ourselves during that five years, the meaning of it became clearer to me when we gather now. That’s why I have no regrets.”
Tiffany shared, “I’m just thankful that we’re here together and that means we’ve spent our individual time well. When we got together, I thought ‘Guys, I’m sure a lot of things happened to each of you over the past five years, but it’s already so meaningful to me to have you all gather in this place right now’. We all worked hard”. She then cried while recalling Girls’ Generation’s 10th-anniversary fanmeeting.
Sooyoung said, “Back then, we knew that we would say goodbye to each other. We were all wailing and crying in the waiting room. At that time, we all knew that we would definitely get together again, but if the situation and conditions didn’t allow us to do so, it could take us more time so we couldn’t promise our fans that we would reunite in any form or way. Since we couldn’t say anything to our fans, I was very sorry to our fans.”
Hyoyeon looked back on the past and shared, “Although we are now in different companies, we successfully gathered up because we all have one thing in mind. At that time, when we all said we would find our own new paths, I felt like I had lost something.”
Sunny said, “I’m thankful for whatever I’m doing, and I’m thankful that we’re doing this even when we fight because our schedules don’t match each other”. Tiffany also added, “This is so interesting. The secret of our friendship is to just fight openly”. In response, Sunny said, “We talk in front of each other so that we don’t feel sorry for each other from behind. That’s good”, expressing her affection for Girls’ Generation.
