The viewers are showing keen interest in new actress Kim Min-ha, who is appearing in Apple TV+’s original series “Pachinko”.
The drama “Pachinko”, starring Youn Yuh-jung, Lee Min-ho and Kim Min-ha, was released on March 25th. Actress Kim Min-ha played the young version of Sun-ja, Youn Yuh-jung’s character. In this drama, she portrays a romance with Lee Min-ho.
At the online press conference for “Pachinko”, which was broadcast live on March 18th, Youn Yuh-jung praised Kim Min-ha. Complimenting Kim Min-ha’s acting skills, Youn Yuh-jung said, “Since we played the same character, we couldn’t meet each other during the whole filming process. I met her for the first time recently, and as soon as I saw her, I said ‘You did so well’. I was really surprised. She has done such a great job”.
Born in 1995, Kim Min-ha is 28 years old this year. She made her debut through the Season 2 of the web drama “Two Girls” in 2016. Although Kim Min-ha has already debuted for 7 years, she has only emerged as a rising actress after proving her presence through the newest drama “Pachinko”.
She was proudly cast in “Pachinko” after going through a difficult audition process that lasted for 4 months and was able to act alongside top stars such as Youn Yuh-jung and Lee Min-ho.
In a recent interview with fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar, Kim Min-ha revealed that she dreamed of becoming a voice actor since elementary school. She decided to pursue an acting path only when she was in her senior year in high school as she firmly declared, “I will not go to college unless I major in theater and film.”
After that, she passed the entrance exam and was accepted to the Department of Theater and Film at Hanyang University with highly competitive admissions and is still attending classes at the moment. Actors who graduated from Hanyang University’s Department of Theater and Film include Lee Young-ae, Seol Kyung-gu, Choi Bool-am, Yu Oh-seong, Choi Ji-woo, Ji Sung, Kim Min-jung, Bae Doo-na, Jung Il-woo, and Jang Geun-suk.
Apple TV+ original series “Pachinko”, starring Kim Min-ha, is an epic drama depicting the lives and dreams of four generations of a Korean immigrant family who are desperately fighting for survival and seeking prosperity under Japanese colonialism after leaving their home country.
