The 28th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) is kicking off with grandeur

The 28th BIFF will take place from Oct 4th for 10 days in the area surrounding the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae-gu, Busan.

The opening ceremony will be held at the outdoor theater of the Busan Cinema Center on Oct 4th. Actor Lee Je-hoon will not be attending due to health reasons, so actress Park Eun-bin will moderate the event on her own. Park Eun-bin will be the first solo female moderator of the BIFF opening ceremony.

Actor Chow Yun-fat will receive the Asian Filmmaker of the Year award at the opening ceremony. Chow Yun-fat will present 3 films, including his latest work “One More Chance”, as part of a special program.

Renowned Korean actor Song Kang-ho will be the host of the opening ceremony. Song Kang-ho plans to act as the representative face of this year’s Busan International Film Festival.

Various programs, such as Open Talk, Special Talk, outdoor stage greetings, Actors House, Master Class and hand printing, will be presented to film fans from both Korea and abroad.

In the Open Talk, actors who appeared in various works, including “Because I Hate Korea”, “Believer 2”, “Ballerina”, “LTNS”, “Vigilante” and “A Bloody Lucky Day”, will participate.

The outdoor stage greetings will feature actors Kim Jun-han and Park Sung-woong from “A Man of Reason”, director Min Yong-geun and actresses Kim Da-mi and Jeon So-nee from “Soulmate”, director Lee Han and actors Yoo Hae-jin, Kim Hee-sun and Han Sun-hwa from “Honey Sweet”.

Actors John Cho, Song Joong-ki, Youn Yuh-jung and Han Hyo-joo will attend Actors House to share in-depth stories.

To commemorate the late actress Yoon Jeong-hee, who passed away last January, her representative works “Mist” and “Poetry” will be specially screened. The special screening will be accompanied by a special talk with director Lee Chang-dong, who directed “Poetry”.

Korean commercial films that are popular and attractive but have not yet been released will be screened as part of the “Korean Cinema Today – Special Premiere” section, including Netflix’s originals “Believer 2” and “Ballerina” as well as Song Joong-ki’s “Hopeless”.

The “On Screen” section will feature 5 works, including TVING’s original series “Running Mate”, “LTNS” and Disney+’s original series “Vigilante”. The “On Screen” section showcases notable drama series.

The closing ceremony will take place on the final day, Oct 13th, at the same venue as the opening ceremony. Actors Hong Kyung and Go Min-si will host the event.

The opening film is the Korean film “Because I Hate Korea” (directed by Jang Kun-jae), and the closing film is the Chinese film “The Movie Emperor” starring Andy Lau. A total of 269 films will be screened during the festival.
