“Street Women Fighter” Contestants Showed Sisterhood And Love Despite Evil Editing and Prejudices

“Street Women Fighter” is more than just a dancing show

Street Women Fighter” was originally an underappreciated project. In the first season, which aired in 2021, no prize money was originally at stake. As criticism poured in, the show belatedly added 50 million won in prize money. Famous dance crews from the entertainment industry such as PRWDMON, Holy Bang, and LACHICA participated, but public awareness was not high. They entered the competition with only a passion for dance. After the great success of “Street Women Fighter 1”, “Street Men Fighter,” the men’s version produced in 2022, offered the winning team 50 million won in prize money, a foreign car, and a chance to shoot a commercial for a large company from the beginning.

However, the treatment that “Street Women Fighter” contestants received was still not sufficient. While “Street Men Fighter” was praised with expression of respect for men’s loyalty and pride, “Street Women Fighter” was mocked by associating women with greed, and jealousy.

Contrary to the production team’s remarks, which say “If female dancers had ‘jealousy’ or ‘greed’, male dancers would see loyalty,” the viewers of “Street Women Fighter 2” are witnessing the loyalty and ‘respect’ among these women.

In particular, Mina Myoung and Lia Kim reconciling in the sixth episode showed why the program was so loved. In the past, the two were early members of One Million Studio and had been together for about 10 years. Later, Mina Myoung left due to conflicts in treatment and formed a new team called Deep N Dap.

“Street Women Fighter 2″ depicts One Million and Deep N Dap as rivals. On September 29, the conflict reached its peak in the “No Respect Underdog Pointing Battle” Roind. The target that Lia Kim pointed out as a “no respect” dancer was Mina Myoung. The show showed choreography that provoked each other and Lia Kim even pushed Mina Myoung. Judge Monika criticized, “I was so emotionally immersed in how they criticized each other, but I couldn’t see their skills.”

In an interview shortly after the battle, Lia Kim said, “I was embarrassed. It was a shameful battle,” she confessed, and Mina Myoung, who won, was not happy as well. Later, she said, “I wanted to make Lia Kim not embarrassed.” The conflict gradually eased after the battle.

Eventually, Deep N Dap dropped out after losing the elimination battle. Mina Myoung said, “I think I can let go of One Million,” and lowered her head, “I want to say thank you so much for the past 10 years.” Lia Kim also shed tears and gave a thumbs-up, saying, “Good job, you worked so hard.” This long-term bad relationship ended with the sisterhood. After the broadcast, the two dancers even followed each other on Instagram.
