Actor Jung Sung Il shared the story behind the casting for “The Glory” and left a spoiler about “The Glory Part 2” to be released in March.
Actor Jung Sung Il, who received attention from netizens thanks to the character Ha Do Yeong in Netflix’s “The Glory“, appeared on the Feb 1st broadcast of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block“. On this day’s broadcast, Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho parodied the main scene of Ha Do Yeong in “The Glory” before Jung Sung Il appeared.
Meeting Jung Sung Il, Yoo Jae Suk immediately took off his glasses and greeted him after confirming their resemblance. Yoo Jae Suk told Jung Sung Il, “It’s so crazy right now. Does your family like it? I didn’t even appear in the drama, but I get calls every day.”
Jung Sung Il said, “My family loves it, too. Some people draw glasses on my face. I think I appeared here thanks to them.”
When asked about the casting for “The Glory”, Jung Sung Il replied, “My agency said, ‘Keep your schedule empty because writer Kim Eun Sook’s work may invite you.’ I waited for a year. Later, it turned out that writer Kim Eun Sook saw me in ‘Stranger 2’ and had me in mind for the character Ha Do Yeong from the beginning. Still, when I first read the script, I was so nervous because she’s a star writer.”
Jung Sung Il conveyed the atmosphere of the filming site of “The Glory”, “For the character Ha Do Yeong, the director said ‘I want a feeling like Leung Chiu Wai’, so I paid a lot of attention to facial expressions and gestures. While filming, actress Song Hye Kyo was really easy-going, and actress Lim Ji Yeon made her acting feel so realistic. When the filming was over, I told her, ‘You’re so mean.'”
Finally, when Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho said “‘The Glory Part 2’ is going to be released in March. Can we ask for a spoiler?”, Jung Sung Il raised expectations by sharing, “In Part 2, Ha Do Yeong will fall into the abyss, be in despair and anger more than anyone else. It’s more fun to be sure.”
