Chinese actress Tang Wei criticized by male co-star for her excessive use of the restroom while filming
A resurfacing previous interview of Chinese actress Tang Wei is receiving controversial reactions.
Chinese actress Tang Wei recently became a hot topic for her appearance in “Decision to Leave”, a thriller film recently aired at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, directed by famous Korean director Park Chan Wook. As a result, netizens are digging up previous interviews of the actress, and one footage in particular is garnering attention.
In the interview video, the MC asked the couple: “During your time working together, which trait of the other annoyed you the most?” To which, Lei Jiayin replied that Tang Wei constantly used the toilet, which interrupted his flow of emotions and hindered him from getting immersed in his character.
The MC then asked Tang Wei if her excessive use of the toilet was intentional, at which point the actress started to cry. Uponing seeing his partner’s tears, Lei Jiayin added even further to the fire, saying things like “Wow, you act so well?”, “Was I wrong though?”, “No need to comfort her, she’d be fine after crying”, and “All artists are like that”, before claiming that he was fiercely protective of women.
The straight-forward yet extremely insensitive answer of Lei Jiayin is now receiving the ire of netizens, who think that saying such things publicly can severely hurt Tang Wei. In addition, they said that using the restroom is just a bodily function, and there’s no use criticizing Tang Wei for something she can’t help.
