Shin Min-ah works with “nation’s mother” Kim Hae-sook for “Our Season”

A production briefing of the upcoming movie “Our Season”, which stars Shin Min-ah and Kim Hae-sook, was held

On November 13, a production brief of the upcoming movie “Our Season” was held with the attendance of Director Yook Sang-hyo, as well as actors Kim Hae-sook, Shin Min-ah, Kang Ki-young, and Hwang Bo-ra.

Scheduled for release on December, “Our Season” is a healing fantasy film about a mother, Bok-ja (played by Kim Hae-sook), who comes down from heaven for a vacation, and her daughter, Jin-joo (played by Shin Min-ah), who operates a restaurant using her mother’s recipes.

During the event, Kim Hae-sook, who is known as “the nation’s mother”, shared, “I’ve played many mothers before, but it’s the first time playing a mother who comes down from heaven for a three-day vacation to meet her daughter.”

She continued, saying, “Above all, the thought of our mother in heaven came to mind first. I started the movie thinking, ‘If something like this happened to our mom, wouldn’t she come down to me first?’ When reading the script, I felt a lot of warmth, and the story became like a fairy tale. There was no reason not to take on this role.”

Kim Hae-sook also expressed, “If our parents have passed away, we would probably think at least once, ‘I want to meet them again.’ I feel the same way. That aspect strongly resonated with me.”

Finally, the actress added, “In the movie, Jin-joo thinks about her mother while cooking her recipes. Home-cooked meals are a form of longing for her mother. I also wanted to eat the food my mom cooked for me, so I tried making those dishes at home, but they didn’t taste the same, and I was disappointed. It was refreshing to see the movie express that longing through home-cooked meals.”

Meanwhile, Shin Min-ah commented, “The universal emotion of love between a mother and daughter is portrayed honestly but with a fantasy element, making it charming. After losing a loved one, there’s often regret, and you start thinking, ‘Those were good times.’ In that aspect, it’s a warm and relatable work.”

When asked about her usual role as a daughter, Shin Min-ah responded, “I try my best to do well. I get along well with my mother, like a friend. While there were some frustrating moments in the past, at some point, as two women, we began to empathize a lot. I think comfortably about my mother, and we spend time like friends. We can talk comfortably about the things that happened to each other. We both make an effort.”
