“Seven” by BTS Jungkook took inspiration from a Vietnamese TikToker?

A video claiming that BTS Jungkook got his song “Seven” from a Vietnamese TikToker is receiving a lot of attention.

BTS Jungkook recently released the song “Seven” (feat. Latto), which has been taking the world by storm. Along with the song’s popularity, the “Seven” MV, which features actress Han So Hee, also went viral for its artistry and interesting story.

However, a segment from “Seven”, wherein Jungkook sang “Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Seven days a week. Every hour, every minute, every second. You know night after night, I’ll be lovin’ you right. Seven days a week”, is being said to have “taken inspiration” from somewhere else.

In particular, TikTok user @jarredjermaine, who has 5 million followers and is specialized in making music consents, published a video that compared Jungkook’s “Seven” with a “song” sung by famous Vietnamese TikToker @Soytiet.

“jarredjermaine” also added the caption “I can’t believe Jungkook got his new song from this”, and attached a video where “Soytiet” was singing about days within a week in English.

Previously, “jarredjermaine” also posted another video with the caption, “How come this new Jungkook song sounds so familiar”, and compared the same segment of “Seven” to Cherrelle Alexander O’Neal’s “Saturday Love”, which was released in 1985.

It can be seen, however, that aside from the lyrics that list out days of the week, the melody and the arrangement of “Seven” has nothing to do with Soytiet and Cherrelle Alexander O’Neal’s songs.

In addition, while “jarredjermaine” did accurately pointed out song similarities and similar uses of samples in the past, the TikToker only did the two above videos as a joke, considering that he added the hashtag #funny.
