Revelations Behind the Shocking Discord Within a Legendary K-pop Girl Group

After many years, a member of the girl group has finally spoken out about the once-shocking scandal

On the morning of February 17th, Sports Chosun reported that famous female singer Kim E-Z had appeared on a talk show as a guest, speaking out for the first time in nearly 20 years about the discord within her former group, Baby V.O.X. It’s worth noting that during their 8-year activity period, Baby V.O.X experienced “members leaving” four times, which led to speculation and internal turmoil, causing a stir in the South Korean public.

In the recent talk show, Kim E-Z strongly refuted rumors of conflicts within the once-popular girl group, while shocking revelations emerged: “There were no issues among the members. I was one of the youngest members of Baby V.O.X and had to witness the company dismissing older members from the group just because of their age. It’s frustrating that many fans thought members left the group due to internal conflicts.”

Additionally, Kim E-Z clarified the reasons behind the dissolution of the once-legendary girl group: “Baby V.O.X’s seventh album couldn’t be released due to troubles related to sample clearance. Afterward, the group also ended their contract with the management company, and each of us went our separate ways.”

The singer born in 1979 shared about her life after the group’s disbandment: “I sought stability after receiving much public criticism. I dated anonymously hoping to find someone suitable for me. I got married at the age of 31 and gave birth to my first child just a year later. My eldest child is now in middle school.”

Baby V.O.X officially debuted in the K-pop scene in 1997. Within about a year, the group started gaining attention with the song “Ya Ya Ya.” Their career skyrocketed in 1999 with the hit “Get Up,” dominating music charts in Korea. Subsequently, the group continued to enjoy successive successes with many music releases embraced by the public. Baby V.O.X officially disbanded in 2006, though in reality, they had ceased activities in 2004. Throughout their time in the K-pop market, Baby V.O.X experienced several member changes.
