Red Velvet Talked About Winning First Place In Their 10th Year, “It isn’t easy to be loved for so long”

Red Velvet’s Seulgi and Wendy had an honest conversation with GOT7’s BamBam

On December 15th, BamBam’s YouTube channel uploaded a new video titled “Latte Talk Of Red Velvet and GOT7, 3rd-generation groups in their 10th year”.

That day, BamBam’s close friends Seulgi and Wendy visited his house and ate some food together. Both GOT7 and Red Velvet debuted in 2014. Seulgi said, “I didn’t realize it’s been 10 years. But I feel it when I’m at the broadcasting stations. They are all babies. We get treated too often like seniors”. As BamBam reacted, “Oh really? I’m envious. No one really treats me like that”, Seulgi replied, “But you’re a bit younger”.

BamBam also revealed his first impression of Red Velvet, saying “You were a teeny bit scary at first, to be honest.” Hearing that, Seulgi said, “That’s what a lot of people say. Is it because we have a lot of senior girl groups?”. Wendy added, “There are still a lot of people who are scared of us. Maybe it’s because we stick only to ourselves”. Recalling the past, BamBam commented, “Back then, Winner won first place, and Red Velvet placed first, too. But only GOT7 didn’t win first place. So you guys looked more like celebrities”.

BamBam shared, “Our manager at the time was a total Red Velvet fan. We weren’t close back then, but I asked, ‘I’m really sorry, but can I get your autograph for my manager?’. That manager was such a fan that he knew everything about Red Velvet, even though we weren’t curious! When we got in the car for our activities, he always turned on Red Velvet songs. So in the end, we even covered Red Velvet’s ‘Dumb Dumb’ at our concert. So I already felt really close to you because of our manager”.

In addition, BamBam mentioned Red Velvet’s recent comeback with “Chill Kill”, saying “I saw you win first place on the music show. Why were you surprised? Wasn’t it a given?”. In response, Seulgi said, “Not at all. We weren’t even thinking about it at all. We’ve been around for a long time, and it isn’t easy to be loved for so long, honestly. So that we put out a full album and got to spend time with our fans was the most precious thing for us. But they gave us first place…”.

Wendy then drew laughter as she told a behind-the-scenes story, saying “So usually, there are times when we prepare a thank you speech. But none of us even knew we’d get first place. So no one prepared anything. No one!”
