Record Labels Want to Sign BLACKPINK Members Amid Uncertain Contract Renewal with YG

Whether BLACKPINK members will re-sign with YG still remains a question mark and this opens up opportunities for other companies

BLACKPINK has completed their world tour, and the group’s contract with YG ended in August. However, negotiations are still ongoing. YG has not yet issued an announcement about BLACKPINK’s future.

Meanwhile, former entertainment reporter and YouTuber Lee Jin Ho has pointed out that Lisa will play a significant role in determining whether BLACKPINK renews their contract with YG or not.

With an insider’s perspective, Lee Jin Ho mentioned that many record labels are hoping to sign contracts with BLACKPINK. Lisa has even received an offer from a Thai company worth 50 million USD. With Lisa’s international recognition, her market value is estimated to be over 80 million USD.

Lee Jin Ho also stated that it’s unlikely Lisa will renew her contract with YG. He mentioned, “Lisa’s performance at Crazy Horse has led to a lot of negative feedback. Korea highly values an artist’s image,” said YouTuber Lee Jin Ho.

“If she renews with YG, it will be difficult for her to participate in more diverse performances. Currently, YG hopes that the members will sign contracts with other companies as individuals but will also sign a group contract with YG to continue BLACKPINK’s activities.”

Rosé may be signing with Columbia Records. She was spotted meeting with Columbia Records’ CEO, Ron Perry, at a café in the United States. Netizens also noticed that Ron Perry started following the Instagram accounts of the other three BLACKPINK members, Rosé, Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa, after meeting with Rosé.

Therefore, many fans speculate that Columbia Records may want to sign BLACKPINK to diversify its lineup, which includes artists like Adele and Beyoncé.
