“Project Wolf Hunting” Seo In-guk “I really wanted to play a villain… I was satisfied with my acting and character”

Seo In-guk revealed why he attempted an unconventional acting transformation in “Project Wolf Hunting”.

On the afternoon of Sep 19th, the press preview of the movie “Project Wolf Hunting” was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul. Main actors Seo In-guk, Jang Dong-yoon, Jung So-min, Park Ho-san, Jang Young-nam and director Kim Hong-sun attended the event.

Earlier, “Project Wolf Hunting” was officially invited to the Midnight Madness section at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival and successfully completed the red carpet event and world premiere screening. Moviegoers around the world, who filled a total of 1,071 seats up to the third floor of the Royal Alexandra Theatre, focused on the film with exclamations and applause in between. In the work, Seo In-guk plays Jong-doo, a first-class murder criminal who dreams of escaping from the Frontier Titan. It is his third screen lead role since debut, and he attempted the most intense acting transformation in his filmography’s history.

Seo In-guk said, “As you know, I’ve played a lot of good roles in my works. Every time a work is over, when asked what role I want to play in the future or what role I want to try, I always say, ‘I wanted to play a bad guy.’ With such a desire, I read the script of ‘Project Wolf Hunting’ and Jong-doo was the kind of character I wanted to challenge. I thought I really wanted to do this like destiny. Whatever genre and role in the future, I think everything is a challenge and a resolution that I have to build up as an actor. The character at one of the most important points seems to be Jong-doo in ‘Project Wolf Hunting’.”

Regarding the reaction of the prospective audience, he confessed with a smile, “Jong-doo has tattoos, slightly turned eyes, yellow teeth and a lot of freckles. If you look at this character, you’ll be surprised. I think those surprising parts are good. So I was personally satisfied with my acting and character. I think the audience will appreciate that part. In fact, a lot of people in Toronto liked me. (Laugh) It was amazing that they liked the character Jong-doo. It’s like I’m proud of myself, but it felt good.”

The movie “Project Wolf Hunting” (directed by Kim Hong-sun, provided and distributed by The Contents ON, co-distributed by CJ CGV, produced by Contents G, co-produced by Cheum Film) depicts a story that takes place on a cargo ship used to transport dangerous criminals from Manila, Philippines to Busan, South Korea. Director Kim Hong-sun, who is called the “master of the intense genre” through “Metamorphosis” (2019), “The Con Artists” (2014), and “Traffickers” (2012), took the megaphone. It will be released on Sep 21st with rated R.
