Actress Tang Wei announced her recent situation that she is currently living with her parents in Beijing.

“Decision To Leave” is a movie about Hae-joon (Park Hae-il), a detective who is investigating a murder case in the mountain when he meets the deceased’s wife, Seo-rae (Tang Wei), who is both suspicious and interesting to him.

Amid favorable reviews after the release of “Decision To Leave,” a Palme d’Or for director Park Chan-wook and “Best Actress” for Tang Wei is highly expected. Regarding being mentioned as a candidate for the “Best Actress” award, Tang Wei said, “Like what our writer Jeong Seo-kyung said yesterday, ‘Before I came to Cannes, I thought it would be nice to receive an award at Cannes. But after watching the movies, I feel like I’ve already won an award just by coming this far.’ I would like to express my thoughts with that. And what’s even more pleasant is that I heard that yesterday, different movies were shown to the candidates for the “Best New Directors” at the film festival, and they chose “Decision To Leave.” I think that’s enough recognition for us.”

When asked about her current status, Tang Wei revealed she is residing in Beijing. Tang Wei said, “I’m the only daughter. My parents are in China, and they are not young anymore. As their child, I will go to see my mom and dad, who are living alone, whenever I have time. It is important to Chinese people. Isn’t it the same for Koreans? Since my parents don’t have any other children, I need to take care of them.

Tang Wei then responded once again in the middle of the interview, saying, “I’d like to talk more about my recent situation. I’m in Beijing because of my parents, and in order to do that, my family in Korea helps me a lot,” she said, expressing her gratitude for her Korean family, which is her husband Kim Tae-yong.
