6 Korean actors whose existence is a spoiler as they always die in their works

Several Korean actors always play characters that die, to the point audiences can predict the plot from their appearances alone. 

1. Kang Dong Won

Kang Dong Won

Jung Tae Seong, played by Kang Dong Won in the movie “Temptation of Wolves”, died while undergoing surgery in the movie. Then, in “Duelist”, the actor assumed the role of “Sad Eyes”, who died in a confrontation with Nam Soon (Ha Ji Won). In “Maundy Thursday”, he played the role of Jung Yun Soo, a death row inmate, whose sentence was executed.

In “Haunters”, Kang Dong Won’s character Cho In fell to his death in the final confrontation with Lim Kyu Nam (Go Soo). In “Kundo: Age of the Rampant”, his role also died in a confrontation with Dochi (Ha Jung Woo). Then, as “1987: When the Day Comes”, the actor made a special appearance as Lee Han Yeol and continued his “dying streak”.

2. Kim Myung Min

Yi Sun Sin, played by Kim Myung Min in the KBS historical drama “Immortal Admiral Yi Sun Sin”, died in “Noryang Battle” as stated in history. Jang Tae Seop, the actor’s role in MBC drama “White Tower”, also died of illness.

In “Six Flying Dragons”, Kim Myung Min’s character, Jeong Do Jeon, perished in the 1st prince’s rebellion, similar to history. Finally, in “My Love By My Side”, “VIP”, and “A Day”, the actor’s roles died respectively of Lou Gehrig’s disease, shooting, and car accident. 

3. Kim Nam Gil

Bidam, played by Kim Nam Gil in the MBC drama “Queen Seondeok”, committed a rebellion and died. Shim Gun Wook and Han Yi Soo, his characters in “Bad Guy” and “Shark”, also died due to getting shot. 

In “Live Up to Your Name”, Kim Nam Gil assumed the role of Heo Im, who repeated death and resurrection every time he traveled between Joseon and modern society. Lastly, in the movie “Pandora”, the actor’s character Kang Jae Hyeok died after saving people from a nuclear reactor.

4. Ryu Seung Ryong

Actor Ryu Seung Ryong played Jyuushinta, Kurushima Michifusa, Lee Yong Gu, and Lord Cho Hak Ju in the films “Wars of the Arrows”, “The Admiral: Roaring Currents”, “Miracle in Cell No.7”, and the Netflix series “Kingdom” respectively, who died due to being beheaded, poisoned, and executed. 

5. Shin Hyun Been

Actress Shin Hyun Been also has an impressive “death streak” in her acting projects. In particular, in “Confidential Assignment”, she played the wife of Rim Chul Ryeong (Hyun Bin), who is killed by Cha Ki Seong (Kim Joo Hyuk) in the beginning. In the movie “Cheer up, Mr. Lee”, she assumed the role of Hye Yeong, who died due to a subway fire while married to Lee Chul Soo (Cha Seung Won).  

Then, as Seo Mi Ran in “Beasts Clawing at Straws”, she died while working at a bar after being scammed.

6. Cho Jin Woong

Young Pil and Hong Kyu, characters played by Cho Jin Woong in the films “A Dirty Carnival” and “Gangster High”, died in a coup d”état and a fight within the organization, respectively. 

The actor’s roles of Ki Tae, Park Chang Min, and Cho Sang Ok in the films “Hwayi: A Monster Boy”, “A Hard Day”, and “Assassination” also died.

In the SBS drama “The Slave Hunters”, the MBC drama “Deep Rooted Tree”, and the tvN drama “Signal”, Cho Jin Woong transformed into Kwak Han Seom, Moo Hyul, and Lee Jae Han, who all died.
