NewJeans Takes Over Tokyo Dome In Japan “Hundreds Of People Gather At Pop-Up For A Spectacular Scene”

NewJeans' popularity in Japan is remarkable

The area around Tokyo Dome is packed with people, and newspapers featuring NewJeans on the front page are selling out rapidly. Hundreds of people are lining up at the “Supernatural” pop-up, creating a spectacular scene.

According to the agency ADOR on June 27th, local media outlets such as Sponichi, Sports Hochi, Sankei Sports, Daily Sports and Tokyo Chunichi Sports have produced special editions featuring NewJeans.

These newspapers introduced NewJeans as “a Korean five-member group boasting global popularity” and “a group with high musicality and energetic, cool performances“. They prominently highlighted the fact that NewJeans entered Tokyo Dome as a whole just 5 days after their debut in Japan, spotlighting their immense popularity.

As “Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome” approached, some convenience stores sold out of the special editions, leaving fans disappointed.

This Tokyo Dome fan meeting garnered significant attention as it was the first large-scale event meeting with fans since NewJeans released their Japanese debut single “Supernatural” on June 21st.

Despite being held on weekdays (June 26th~27th), all tickets were sold out early, and there were numerous requests for additional seats, leading to the release of limited view seats on the day of the performance. An ADOR representative said, “There was more demand for the limited view seats than initially expected, so we added a small number of seats.”

The area around Tokyo Dome was extremely crowded. Fans supported NewJeans in their own ways using official merchandise like T-shirts, bags, keyrings, fans and lightsticks (Binky Bong). Nearby restaurants and stores continuously played NewJeans’ songs.

The pop-up store in the heart of Shibuya was also a hot spot. The “Supernatural POP-UP” at Line Friends Square Shibuya had over 600 people waiting even before opening, with the line extending beyond Yoyogi Park. On the first day (June 26th), advance reservations for the pop-up were fully booked within five minutes, and the maximum number of visitors for the day was reached within an hour of opening. IPX (formerly Line Friends) stated, “We were surprised by the fans’ response, which was much hotter than expected. We are quickly preparing for pre-orders.”
