“Mask Girl” unveiled still cuts of Go Hyun Jung and Nana, who will play different images of the main character Kim Mo Mi.
The production team of Netflix’s original series “Mask Girl” recently released still cuts of Go Hyun Jung and Nana.
“Mask Girl” depicts the eventful life story of Kim Mo Mi, an ordinary office worker with an appearance complex, who gets caught up in an unexpected incident while working as an internet BJ (streamer) while covering her face with a mask every night.
The drama has drawn keen attention since the early stages of its production due to the unconventional casting of three actresses for one role in order to express Kim Mo Mi’s extreme transformation within the catastrophe. The released still cuts not only capture the strikingly different appearances of the three Kim Momis, but also the distinctive identities of the character, such as an internet BJ, a showgirl, and a prisoner.
The first Kim Mo Mi is an office worker with an appearance complex. Despite her dream of becoming a celebrity, Kim Mo Mi couldn’t fulfill it due to her look. She is gaining popularity by showing off her irresistible charms and talents as streamer Mask Girl, who does sexy dances with a mask on. However, the thrilling happiness of being loved by many people is interrupted when she crosses an irreversible line after fighting with a person who approaches her with bad intentions.
As drama fans are getting more and more curious about the rookie actress who plays the first Kim Mo Mi, director Kim Yong Hoon hinted, “I met many actors through numerous auditions, but fate led me to her. Her strong desire to act was similar to what Kim Mo Mi feels”, raising expectations for the actress who passed the fierce audition to play the first Kim Mo Mi.
Nana takes on the role of Kim Mo Mi after achieving the appearance she dreamt of in an unexpected incident. Hiding her true identity, Kim Mo Mi starts working as a showgirl at a bar under the name Ah Reum, receiving applause once again under the dazzling lights. Nana is expected to skillfully portray the inner conflicts of a character with multi faces, including her beautiful appearance and the despair that haunts her from her past. Director Kim Yong-hoon praised Nana’s acting on the set, saying “I think she’s an actress with an ‘animalistic sense’.”
The last Kim Mo Mi, who gets imprisoned after a series of incidents, will be played by Go Hyun Jung. The appearance of this Kim Mo Mi, who has become famous under the name ‘Mask Girl’ or ‘Prisoner No. 1047’, the main character of the ‘Mask Girl Murder Case’, will amaze viewers with Go Hyun Jung’s remarkable acting. Expressing his admiration for Go Hyun Jung, director Kim said, “I was a big fan of Go Hyun Jung, so it was such for me to be able to work with her”.
Casting Go Hyun Jung, Nana, and a rookie actress for the main character, Netflix’s “Mask Girl” will premiere on August 18th.
