Netflix’s documentary “In the Name of God” is facing a crisis… Another injunction has been filed

According to legal circles on March 13th, Kim Ki Soon (83 years old), leader of ‘The Baby Garden’ cult, already filed an injunction against MBC, PD Cho Sung Hyun, and Netflix to ban the broadcasting of “In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal” through her legal representative. The Baby Garden’s side has also applied for an indirect coercion of 10 million won per day for each violation.

Referring to a broadcast of “Unanswered Questions” produced by SBS in 2001, the religious organization claimed, “The content of the documentary produced by MBC this time is similar”, adding “The production team has never sent a request to The Baby Garden’s side to confirm the fact related to the production and content of their show.”

The Baby Garden is a cooperative village-type religious group founded by Kim Ki Soon in 1982. According to the rules of The Baby Garden, the private properties of its believers are attributed to the common property of the group. In 1982, they established a record distribution company called “Synnara Records”.

JMS, another religious group mentioned in “In the Name of God”, has also applied to file an injunction for a broadcast ban against Netflix and MBC. However, on the 2nd, the Civil Division 21 of the Seoul Western District Court (Chief Judge Lim Jung Yeop) rejected all of the injunction applications submitted by JMS and its leader Jung Myung Seok.
