Nam Tae Hyun indicted without detention on drug charges, “He shows strong determination to quit drug addiction”
Ex-Winner Nam Tae Hyun and “Heart Signal 3” cast Seo Min Jae were put on trial without detention on drug charges.
On August 31st, Criminal Division 3 of Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Chang Soo) announced that they had indicted Nam Tae Hyun and Seo Min Jae on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act without detention.
A prosecutor explained, “The two confessed to buying and administering methamphetamine through SNS”, adding “Considering Nam Tae Hyun’s strong determination to quit drug addiction as he entered a rehabilitation facility by himself and even appeared on a broadcast to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs, while Seo Min Jae is a first-time offender who actively cooperated with the investigation, we decided to handed them over to trial without detention.”
Nam Tae Hyun and Seo Min Jae were accused of administering methamphetamine together at Seo Min Jae’s residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul in August 2022. Nam Tae Hyun was also said to have administered methamphetamine alone overseas in December 2022.
At that time, Seo Min Jae exposed Nam Tae Hyun’s drug use on her SNS and the police decided to hold an investigation after receiving reports from netizens. In May, Seoul Yongsan Police Station applied for arrest warrants but was rejected by the court.
Later, Nam Tae Hyun revealed that he entered a drug addiction rehabilitation center through YouTube content on the channel “Kizzle”.
