Nam Joo-hyuk to make a comeback through new movie “Remember”, overcoming the school bullying controversy in his own way

Actor Nam Joo-hyuk, who was recently embroiled in school bullying suspicions, will resume activities in earnest through the movie “Remember”.

On September 15th, movie distributor Ace Maker Movie Works said, “The movie ‘Remember’ has been confirmed to be released on October 26th.”

“Remember” tells the story of Pil-joo (Lee Sung-min), an Alzheimer’s patient, who has been searching for the group of pro-Japanese who killed his family and planning revenge for 60 years, and his close friend In-gyu (Nam Joo-hyuk), a man in his 20s who unintentionally gets caught up in Pil-joo’s revenge. The filming of “Remember” began in 2020.

Nam Joo-hyuk, the main character actor of “Remember”, which is set to be released two years after finishing its filming, was embroiled in a school bullying scandal right before the release date was confirmed.

In April, Nam Joo-hyuk gained huge popularity after starring in tvN’s hit drama “Twenty-five Twenty-one” as Baek Yi-jin and became a representative actor among those in their 20s. He immediately selected “Vigilante” as his next work and began to solidify his position as a trending actor.

However, in July, the first school bullying rumor broke out, followed by an additional revelation from the accuser who said, “I suffered from his abusive remarks and was forced to buy snacks for him”. A woman caused a stir as she claimed to have suffered “Kakaotalk bullying” from Nam Joo-hyuk and his friends.

In this regard, Nam Joo-hyuk’s agency denied all the allegations, saying “The article about the Kakaotalk group chat conversation did not publicize the full story of the incident at that time, but only extracted some fragmentary scenes without giving any explanation of the context”, adding “The informant’s claim that our actor attempted to apologize to them is also not true at all”.

After releasing their firm denial and announcing their plan to take legal action, the agency reported the news of Nam Joo-hyuk joining the filming of his new drama “Vigilante”. In response to the move from Nam Joo-hyuk’s side, netizens voiced criticism, saying “Does it make sense when the person involved in school bullying controversy is now punishing criminals?”.

Despite the negative public opinion, Nam Joo-hyuk draws keen attention as he shows his willingness to overcome the scandal by announcing the release of his new movie “Remember” and a new photoshoot.
