“Nam Joo-hyuk’s 6 years of school violence → A friend’s story” The informant changed his words… “Suffer from ADHD”
It was confirmed that the informant, who claimed to have been bullied by actor Nam Joo-hyuk during school days, changed his words after being sued for defamation. He corrected that he only witnessed school violence and was not directly attacked.

As for the reason for reporting Nam Joo-hyuk‘s school violence belatedly, he explained, “The memories of 6 years of being bullied and humiliated came to my mind when I saw Nam Joo-hyuk appear on TV as an innocent and bright male lead. I want nothing else but hope that students who are in similar situations will be less influenced until they become adults.“
In response, Nam Joo-hyuk’s side drew a line that it was groundless. Management SOOP said through a press release on the same day, “After checking the truth with the actor regarding the initial report, we have confirmed that all the relevant information is not true in the slightest. The agency will promptly request a correction report from the Press Arbitration Commission (PAC) against the media outlet responsible for seriously damaging the actor’s reputation through false reports.”
On June 24th, four days later, the agency sued the media outlet’s representative director and the informant.
The informant “I was only talking about a friend, not me“
The media outlet amended the article after being sued. First, the period of school violence was reduced from 6 years to 2 years. The victim also changed from the informant to the informant’s friend.
They corrected the claim that “Nam Joo-hyuk threw mechanical pencil leads at the victim” to “another classmate did it“.
Reporter A, who wrote about the informant’s claim, told Money Today, “The informant’s words partly changed. It’s the informant’s personal story that he suffered school violence for 6 years. I heard that Nam Joo-hyuk’s school violence behaviors took place for 2 years during high school days.”
A continued, “At first, the informant didn’t distinguish what Nam Joo-hyuk did from what other friends did. (After being sued) He said Nam Joo-hyuk only ordered him to buy bread, cut lines and swore.”
Regarding the victim’s change from the informant to the informant’s friend, A confessed, “The informant asked me to hide the fact that it was a friend’s story. I thought the victim could be specified because the content was specific. There was also a problem in the communication process because the informant suffered from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).“
However, A emphasized that he had no intention of taking down the article. He said, “The agency offered to drop charges if I corrected it. However, the informant’s story is quite specific and consistent. I haven’t yet felt that it’s definitely not true.“
