More controversies surrounding The Idol ep 3

The third episode of “The Idol” continues garnering attention with explicit content and more manipulation.

Recently, HBO’s “The Idol” aired the third episode on June 19. In this episode, Dyanne (Jennie Ruby Jane) continues being at the center of attention. After revealing her identity as a subordinate of Tedros (The Weeknd), Dyanne is only a few steps away from replacing Jocelyn.

Specifically, Dyanne successfully manipulates Nikki into giving Jocelyn’s song to her. With this newfound opportunity, Dyanne can show off her dance moves and vocal talents in the “World Class Sinner” MV shoot – originally produced to revive Jocelyn’s career.

However, Jennie’s chance at the spotlight is only the background for Tedros and Jocelyn’s relationship. With time, the couple is becoming inseparable. The complex situation – Jennie attempts to replace Jocelyn all while Jocelyn gives herself away in the arms of Tedros – is a metaphor for how Jocelyn is so deep in love that she gradually lets herself drift away from her career.

Moreover, in this episode, “The Idol” continues revealing the dark side of its characters. Tedros grows more transparent with his scheme to manipulate Jocelyn and turns her into his puppet. He has her trust and her career.

In contrast, Jocelyn feels grateful to Tedros for helping her finding back happiness in her life – the one thing that has been missing from her life. Her confidence in him grows and she starts to confide in him about her dark past (Jocelyn abused by her mother). With this information in hand, Tedros can sway her in any direction he wishes.
